A view from the parapet
A sky formed of live and let
Horizon marked at twenty miles
Pathway obstacles of twenty stiles
The sea an option to beget
A golden moon of no regret
Perspective met a trillion wiles
A soul be made and let to set
NOT LONG SINCE
As we say goodbye to twenty-fourteen
And to those that will go unseen
For those of us that have yet to go
May the new year come and be it so
That we find all we need we need to be
And are able to embrace this gift to see
The beauty and the love of friends
The temper and the song Earth vends
With remaining mortal hours spent
Kindly with the fleeting minutes lent

Autumn forlorn
The minutes past
Projects outlast
Then Winter’s born

Darkness fell
She tripped over the light
Her ego swelled
Took another bite
With desire to lead
Her narrow view
An insatiable need
Followed the few
Holding the gold
Reserving the meat
Inheritance sold
Surviving to cheat
Spewing the lies
Condemning the flocks
On less fortunate spies
Other’s opinions she mocks
Self righteous
And bold
Superstitious
Do as you’re told
Darkness is blind
Supercilious unkind
Having her way
Everyday and today
Without harshness
Could there be light?
Without Darkness
Would there be sight?
NOT AFRAID OF THE DARK
From the darkness came the light
Big and bright to make the day
Small and slight to pierce the night
From the darkness came a way
To see the light, one’s own right
Without the darkness who would know
The difference light intends to show
Without the light who would see
That darkness might need to be
Don’t know where the week went
Don’t know how the time spent
Wresting round the clock
Little time to dock
Paid the current Rent
Onto next month’s bent
