December’s Darkness

 

December gray

Especially today

Winter’s come 

Too soon for some

As silver clouds pall

There’s mourning for all

A time of season to stay

December’s darkness the way

Deep under loam

From comfort of home

The storm will not stall

Certain wrest to befall

Winter’s night must prevail

As weather proceeds under sail

A breath and a moan

Some left all alone

December has come

No safe harbour from

Winter’s shadow uncloaked

Human emotions evoked

The gray fades to black

With a cold, cold wrack 

Winter’s darkness has come

Too soon for some

With and without

A scholarly tome.
