FROM SEE TO SHINING SEE
Thank you for stirring me up. I have walked the length of Bower’s Beach Twice. Consumed a Golden Monkey by Victory Brewery and now am working on a Brooklyn Summer Ale. My solitary walk on the shore of the Delaware Bay, “Little Florida”, has evoked in me a desire to be closer to the Florida Keys — nostalgia — could have something to do with the high alcohol content of the Victory Brew. However, it is a pleasant longing.
As I sit at the rattan dining table of the beach house with my back to the bay and windows the breeze is picking up — a very good development. Although the humidity is only fifty-six percent, without the air moving, at eighty- three degrees, it is just shy of a little too hot.
I will douse myself with well water from the outdoor shower, since the tide is out and there are sand bars for over seventy-five yards, and proceed to bathe myself in the August sun.
As I return to the sugary sands along the Delaware Bay I will bring an umbrella and a comfortable chair for my very good friend, Paula, who is up the road steaming shrimp and who knows what else for our afternoon sustenance.
You have stirred me, my surroundings have trilled me and I can see from bay to shining sea.
Cheers
R.
